| abstract |
The surge absorber is composed of a microgap type surge absorbing element 4 and a varistor 5 electrically connected in series to each other, the varistor having a varistor voltage lower than the nominal voltage of a line to be protected and a voltage non-linearity factor alpha satisfying an inequality 1< alpha <20. The factor alpha is preferably between 5 and 10 and the varistor may be of T1O2, SrTiO3, SiC or SnO2 type. The nurogap element 4 and varistor 5 may be contained in an insulating casing 7 covered with a heat shrinkable tube 8 and possibly having an insulating filler 12. …<IMAGE>… |
