The suit must be donned quickly in emergency situations and, in combination with a life jacket, should right an unconscious body. Suit (10) is made from a highly elastic material which is able to stretch to allow easy donning and yet contract to exert a force sufficient to expel unwanted air from the suit, thereby reducing the buoyancy. Air outlet valves are provided in the suit. The hands are protected by inner gloves 46 and outer mitts 48 hingedly attached to the suit. The suit also includes weights 36 in the thigh, sole and calf portions, and has polythene liners 28, 30 to facilitate donning. An integral life jacket 42 has a bladder compensator arrangement to facilitate in-water inflation. <IMAGE> |
