abstract | A substrate, eg steel plate, is coated with a paint whose binder is one or more resins containing a carbonyl group and optionally also a carboxyl group or group convertible thereto under the curing conditions, and curing the coating by contact with a hydrazine or polyhydrazone compound. In examples styrene-acrylic copolymers containing diacetone acrylamide or acetoacetoxy ethyl methacrylate are electrodeposited, dipped in a solution containing carbodihydrazide or adipic dihydrazide and then heated to complete the curing reaction. |
