Briquettes, particularly based on carbonaceous matter, contain an oxidising material e.g. inorganic nitrate, nitrite, chlorate, perchlorate, permanganate etc. or nitrocellulose. The briquette may also be treated with an oxidising acid such as nitric acid to form the oxidising material. The briquettes may be layered or shaped with an igniting layer containing the oxidiser and may have flues running therethrough. Utility may be domestic or industrial. |
