titleOfInvention | Liquid absorbent/activator mixture for the deacidification of a gas containing carbon dioxide and liquid hydrocarbons |
abstract | A process for the removal of carbon dioxide, CO 2 (i.e., deacidification), from a gas stream containing CO 2 and an amount of liquid hydrocarbons of more than 14 litres per 10<SP>6</SP>m<SP>3</SP> (STP) of gas, comprises contacting the gas, in an absorption zone, with an absorbent liquid consisting of an aqueous solution of methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) and an activator consisting of an aminoalkylethanolamine of formula H 2 N-C n H 2n -NH-CH 2 -CH 2 OH, where n is an integer from 1 to 4. The preferred aminoalkylethanolamine is aminoethylethanolamine (AEEA, n=2). The absorbent liquid loaded with CO 2 thus obtained is subjected to a regeneration treatment in order to release the bound CO 2 and to regenerate the absorbent liquid which is then recycled back into the absorption zone. The gas to be deacidified may also contain other acid gases such as H 2 S and/or COS. All or a portion of the absorbent liquid loaded with CO 2 may be subjected to the regeneration step. |
