A blade assembly to be attached to a rotatably driven disc 10 of a lawn mower. The assembly includes a blade member 13 pivotally mounted on the disc 10 by means of a mounting 11 The mounting 14 permits angular displacement of the blade member 13 about an axis extending generally radially with respect to the rotational axis of the disc 10. As resistance is encountered the blade member 13 becomes inclined. Accordingly, when little or no resistance is encountered, the blade member 13 is generally horizontally oriented and presents a minimum profile in respect of the air within which it is passing. This reduces noise and dust. In another embodiment, a flange (47, figure 7) may be included on the blade member. A fan member may also be included on the blade (figure 18). |
