| abstract | System for analysing multiple gas species e.g. nitrogen, hydrogen and argon streams from a gas purification process, has a plurality of analysers each associated with a gas sampling point, analysis pathways for supplying the samples to corresponding analysers (A), alternative pathways for supplying the samples to alternative analysers which monitor the samples for the same entities measured in the analysers (A) and switching means (B) e.g. 3 or 4 way valves, for switchably connecting pathways to the analysers where an alternative pathway is connected to at least one analyser and receives samples from the other analysers via means (B). If the measured impurity levels in the streams are above a desired value the system and method can ascertain if this is due to the gas streams themselves containing the impurities or inaccuracies in the analysers. |
