| abstract | A telecommunications cable joint closure comprising a cover unit 1, a base unit 2, a sealing means, and a securing collar 3. The cover unit 1 is sealably mountable on the base unit 2 to form a joint line. A sealing means preferably in the form of an O-ring (1d, figure 4) is located between the cover unit 1 and the base unit 2. The securing collar 3 is then mounted over the joint line. Mounting arrangements are preferable such as a handle 1 a located on the top of the cover unit 1 and a mounting bracket 21 secured to the base unit 2 by means of pin 23 Also disclosed is a method of sealing and testing a cable joint closure involving the use of a polyurethane sealant, pressure testing equipment and application of leak detection fluid. |
