abstract |
Fluid sample data is refined by obtaining optical density data at a channel for methane, oil or another constituent and optical density data at another channel such as a water, colour or base (scattering) channel. An absorption function for this channel can be determined and used to calculate the portion of the signal at the methane or oil channel which is due to water, colour or scattering. By obtaining data at further channels, a series of equations can be solved to calculate the portion of the signal which is due to each of a plurality of factors. These portions can then be removed to give a more accurate indication of the level of methane or oil in the fluid sample. |
