A downhole tool 300, such as a packer or bridge plug, includes a mandrel 304, a sealing element 322 disposed around the mandrel, an upper cone 310 disposed above the sealing element 322 and a lower cone 312 disposed below the sealing element, an upper slip 306 assembly disposed above the upper cone 310 and a lower slip 308 assembly disposed below the sealing element, at least one lock ring 316, 318 configured to boost the sealing element when the tool is set, and a secondary lock 350 that couple the upper cone with the at least one lock ring 316, 318. A method of increasing the pack-off force to the tool by applying a differential pressure to the tool. A method of retrofitting a tool to reduce leakage from the seal by providing a secondary lock having at least one arm with an axial portion extending downwardly and a threaded portion to engage the upper cone. |
