The arrangement comprises a heat exchanger 26 having an inlet supplied with fluid 22, and incorporated within a housing 21. An outlet duct 35 is provided with a valve 40 that is displaceable into a fluid flow 32a (such as a by-pass flow) to generate a pressure reduction for drawing fluid through the heat exchanger. The housing 21 may comprise a splitter fairing, mounting nacelle, mounting structure or pylon for a gas turbine engine and the outlet valve may be located upstream of a fan nozzle exit plane. A shroud wall 39 may be provided whereby opening of the valve reduces the cross-sectional area of the flow into which the valve is displaced. The arrangement may incorporate a heat exchanger inlet valve and the heat exchanger may be used to cool ventilation air, de-icing air, or oil. The valve may be in the form of a flap valve. |
