| abstract |
MPEG Transport Streams (TS) are encapsulated within Real Time Transport Protocol (RTP) packets for broadcast over a content delivery network (CDN). Each RTP packet may include multiple TSs. Where there are multiple broadcast sources and the GDN maximum frame size can accommodate it without fragmentation, the RTP packets are multiplexed into a common ethernet jumbo frame before broadcast. The multiplexing includes identifying the programme with the highest data rate as a master and using its clock for demultiplexing and reproducing all of the programmes. Where other programmes data rates are lower than the master rate, dummy date may be included in the multiplex frame. The invention should simplify receiver hardware and reduce contention in the CDN. |
