abstract A wet/dry canister vacuum cleaner has a base assembly 12, a recovery tank 14, and a solution tank 16. A hose interface 18 adapted to mount a vacuum hose 20 is pivotally mounted on the base assembly 12 for selective fluid communication with an inlet to the recovery tank 16. The hose interface 18 is moveable between a position in which the hose interface is coupled with the recovery tank 14, and a second position, in which the hose interface 18 is removed from the recovery tank 14 and the recovery tank can be removed from the vacuum cleaner without having to disconnect the vacuum hose 20 from the vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner can further comprise a diverter assembly 198 for switching between dry and wet mode cleaning, where the diverter assembly 198 forms an inlet to the recovery tank 14.
