| abstract | An angling float 10 has a hollow elongate body portion 12 and flights 28 attached to a hollow rear part 24. A streamlined nose portion 14 and an attachment ring 18 are preferably provided at the front of the float. The ring may be attached to a swivel 16. Also disclosed is a method of estimating the depth of water being fished comprising threading or attaching a weight (32, figure 9) onto a fishing line (30) that is wound around a reel (38) attached to a rod (40) so that the weight can slide along the line, securing a float (10) at one end of the line, casting the weight with the float into the water to be fished, making the line between the weight and the rod taut, and releasing measured amounts of line from the reel until the float surfaces. |
