titleOfInvention A sealed and bendable catheter
abstract A sealed and bendable catheter including tubular frame member having an articulating segment 10, wherein said articulating segment has an axis and a plurality of vertebrae 16,16â symmetrically disposed relative to said axis along said axis, and wherein a transverse slit 14 separates between at least one pair of said vertebra, and wherein each 16 of said first pair positioned at the same side relative to said axis, and wherein at least another pair, which is the second pair of said plurality of vertebrae each of which positioned at the opposite side relative to said axis, and wherein at least one stem 38 connects between a vertebrae of said first pair 16 and the respective vertebrae 16â of the second pair, such that both connected vertebra 16â , 16 are coplanar and collectively form a ring, said sealed bendable catheter comprising at least one bridge 20â connecting between adjacent rings, and wherein at least one of the dimensions of said bridge 20â selected in consideration with the yield strength of said at least one bridge. In another aspect, the sealed and bendable catheter comprises an item selected from a group of items consisting of optical window and a lens 118 sealing off the distal aperture of said tubular frame member, and wherein a sheath 116 enclosing said tubular frame seals off said transverse slit 14.
