titleOfInvention Wireless febrile monitoring device
abstract A device for clinical health condition monitoring specifically to detect the onset of the febrile (fever) condition that typically accompanies infection, incorporates a number of integral non-invasive physiological sensors, the data from which is captured and either stored and processed onboard prior to being transmitted wirelessly to a mobile device or wireless node, or transmitted without processing. The data is then transmitted or uploaded to a server for storage and further analysis. The parameters measured include temperature, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, skin conductivity/impedance and activity level. Typically the device takes measurements from the ear but equally could derive its measurements from other single or multiple areas of the body. Comparison of new and historic multiple parameter data is used to determine the small tell-tale deviations from an individual's normal readings that signify febrile status. Assessment of these signs together with individual risk factors may be used to electronically triage patients outside of a clinical environment.
