titleOfInvention Vacuum cleaner base
abstract A base plate (103, fig 3) for a vacuum cleaner comprises a first portion 901 adapted to support a motor and a second portion 903 including a beater bar housing (116, fig 1), wherein the base bottom includes magnesium and is of unitary construction. The first portion 901 can be formed substantially from magnesium and it is adapted to receive the motor (187, fig 3). A beater bar (192, fig 3) can be mounted in the second portion 903. A multipurpose bracket assembly (fig 5a) can connect the vacuum handle (106, fig 1) bag mount (156, fig 1) and cord support (180, fig 5b). Also disclosed is a vacuum cleaner comprising a wheel mount (107, fig 3) adapted to receive the motor (189, fig 3) and at least two fastening points 928 disposed in the wheel mount (107, fig 3) to fasten the motor (189, fig 3) with the two fastening points 928, the motor shaft 191 and a load shaft driving the beater bar (192, fig 3) being collinear. A vacuum cleaner can also include a housing with one or more structural support members that have a thickness of 0.75mm to 2.5mm with the support being in a weight bearing relationship with the motor.
