abstract |
The present invention relates to an M2M device such as an embedded communication device for an automotive vehicle comprising a controller and a GSM modem. The controller is arranged to monitor data passing through the modem, to select data exchanges implying return data to the device, such as acknowledgements, and to analyze the selected data exchanges. When return data is not received, an error counter is incremented and a reboot to the service provider/PLMN is performed. When a reboot counter reaches a threshold, a reboot to a new service provider is performed. This prevents the modem from rebooting too many times over a small time window to the same PLMN which may result in blacklisting of the M2M device. |
