titleOfInvention Tire sealer system and method
abstract A kit 20 for sealing a punctured tyre, comprising a first pressurised container 22 including a propellant and a first fluid 32 comprising a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) emulsion and a foaming agent and a second pressurised container 24 including a propellant and a second fluid 34 comprising isopropyl alcohol (IPA), preferably at 5-25% wt. A method of fixing a flat tyre is also claimed, wherein the contents of the first container are first introduced in the tyre, followed by those of the second container, so that the interaction between the SBR and the IPA causes the rubber particles to agglomerate and seal the hole in the tyre. The pressure in the first canister is preferably sufficient to disperse the foamed first fluid throughout the interior of the tyre, whereas the pressure in the second canister is preferably higher and sufficient to inflate the tyre. The first fluid preferably comprises 13-40% wt SBR, 26-80% wt water and 1-15% wt of foaming agent. The foaming agent is preferably a mixture of 1-10% wt potassium oleate and 0.1-5% wt ammonium lauryl sulphate. The first fluid may further contain butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) as an antioxidant and propylene glycol (PG) as a freeze point depressant.
