A cosmetic method for improving hair growth, hair structure, and the strength, resistance, and shine of the hair. The method is characterised in that the hair is treated with a composition containing at least one casein hydrolysate and common carrier substances, active substances, and auxiliary substances. The present application shows that casein hydrolysate can lead to increased gene expression of various hair keratins and also increase the release of keratinocyte growth factor (KGF) which is an important regulator of hair growth and strength. Preferably the casein hydrolysate is produced from κ-casein and/or lactophorin and has a molar mass of 500 to 8000 daltons. Also preferably, the casein hydrolysate is present in the composition in an amount of 0.0001 to 5 wt% with respect to the total weight of the composition. In other embodiments, the composition may further comprise one or more of a camitine derivative, taurine, plant extract, vitamin, purine, an additional protein hydrolysate and/or oligopeptide. |
