abstract |
A frame assembly comprising: a first inner frame section 16 adapted to be fitted to a first peripheral portion 12 of a first surface 12A of a first panel 12 of sheet material and a second, separate inner frame section 18 adapted to be fitted to a second peripheral portion 14 of a second (opposite) surface 14A. There is also an outer frame section with first projection 20A received in a space 21A defined by the first inner frame section and, preferably, a second projection 20B received in a space 21B defined by the second inner frame section. The space(s) and projection(s) cooperate to restrict movement of inner and outer frame sections to provide resistance against e.g. bomb blasts and may have complementary or interlocking geometries, such as a tongue and groove. The space(s) may be larger than the projection(s) by a tolerance value of greater than or equal to 5mm. The outer frame section may be substantially U-shaped, with a mouth portion/pocket to receive the panels and may be made of aluminium, steel, UPVC or polymer. Independent claims are included for a single inner frame section and a method of constructing the frame assembly. |
