titleOfInvention | Improvements in the manufacture and production of a black trisazo dyestuff |
abstract | 303,424. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 1, 1927. Trisazo dyes.-A black trisazo dyestuff is obtained by diazotizing p-aminobenzeneazo-2-amino- 8-naphthol-6-sulphonic acid obtained by acid coupling, coupling in alkaline solution with 2 : 8 : 6-acid, rediazotizing, and coupling with mphenylenediamine. Alternatively one of the components may carry a further sulphonic group. The products have good fastness on cotton and on viscose and like artificial silks but not on acetate silk and are therefore valuable for obtaining colour effects on mixed fabrics containing acetate silk and other artificial silks or cotton or both. The following examples are specified. (1) Diazotized p-nitraniline is coupled in acid solution with 2 : 8 : 6-acid, the monoazo dyestuff is reduced with sodium sulphide, the product is diazotized and coupled in sodium carbonate solution with 2 : 8 : 6-acid, and the separated disazo dyestuff is diazotized and coupled with m-phenylenediamine. (2) The reduced monoazo dyestuff obtained as in (1) is diazotized and coupled in sodium carbonate solution with 2- amino-8-naphthol-3 : 6-disulphonic acid, and the separated disazo dyestuff is diazotized and coupled with m-phenylenediamine. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 19743/92, 7330/93, and 20278/97. |
