titleOfInvention Improved manufacture of shaped objects from cellulose derivatives
abstract 315,275. I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. July 10, 1928, [Convention date]. Moulding celluloid. - In the manufacture of shaped objects from cellulose derivatives of naphthenic acid and of the higher fatty acids, the material is subjected to a preliminary rolling treatment. For example, cellulose trilaurate is rolled between two rollers for 30 minutes at a temperature of 60-70‹ C., the material being twisted and turned several times during the operation. The invention is applicable to derivatives of saturated or unsaturated, substituted or non-substituted higher fatty acids containing more than 8 carbon atoms, e.g. cellulose laurate, ethyl cellulose palmitate, cellulose aceta-stearate, cellulose butyro-ricinoleate or cellulose naphthenate. Pigments, dyes or filling materials may be incorporated during the rolling treatment.
