titleOfInvention Improvements in and relating to springing arrangements for the wheels of power driven vehicles
abstract 424,678. Vehicle spring-suspensions DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES., Untertiirkheim, Stuttgart, Germany. Sept. 5, 1934, No. 25546. Convention date, Sept. 5, 1933. [Class 108 (ii)] In spring suspensions for independently guided wheels in which the guiding members such as half axles, links &c. are mounted on the frame through the intermediary of resilient buffers the guiding members are mounted so as to be capable of turning to a certain extent against the elasticity of resilient buffers about an axis horizontally extending transversely to the direction of travel. A tubular member c having forks c<1>, c<2> at its outer end to which are pivoted the links e, f carrying the steering swivel pin d is mounted in the frame member b in such a manner as to resist resiliently the turning moments of the member c about its axis. This mounting comprises a tubular pin o passing through an eye on the end of the member c and connected to the frame member b by means of rubber buffers p<1>, p<2> spacing sleeves ql, q2 and a clamping bolt s being provided. At the outer end the member c is connected to the member b by a rubber ring t One of the links f is provided with an arm f<2> coupled to a pin h having abutments h<1>, h<2> and surrounded by a rubber buffer k fixed to the member c so that in the limiting positions of the pin h the abutments contact with the buffer k. The abutment h<2> also acts as a spring plate for the coiled spring i. The mounting is such that not only are the turning, and lateral movements resisted but the wheel, guiding members and spring casing can be detached as a unit without unduly relieving the spring from load by the simple means of unshipping the pin o.
