titleOfInvention | Process for the treatment of spent cobalt catalysts |
abstract | 504,700. Regenerating catalysts. RUHRCHEMIE AKT.-GES. Sept. 8, 1938, No. 26275. Convention date, Sept. 25, 1937. [Class 1 (i)] Cobalt catalysts which are precipitated on kieselguhr and have been used for the synthesis of benzines from carbon monoxide and hydrogen are regenerated by dissolving in nitric acid and re-precipitating the catalytically active material, the acid containing not more than 20 per cent and preferably no more than 3-5 per cent of free nitric acid. Preferably the solvent liquor contains also the catalytically active material, e.g. cobalt nitrate. The catalysts are treated above the melting point of the solid paraffins contained in the catalyst e.g. at 70-90‹ C., the kieselguhr being readily separated by filtration &c., and the paraffins separating as an oily layer. |
