titleOfInvention A new or improved fluid flow indicator
abstract 516,849. Indicating fluid -flow. ECONOMIC WATER SOFTENERS. Ltd., and GOLDER, H. C. July 27, 1938, No. 22281. [Class 69 (i)] A counterbalanced flap c<2> pivotally mounted below a spout or the like p indicate that the flow has exceeded a predetermined amount by overbalancing from a position normal to the stream to a position out of the stream. In the form shown, the flap is balanced by an adjustable counterweight d<1> on a bent arm e<1>, and is pivotally mounted in a bracket n clamped to the spout. The edges of the flap are rounded so that fluid flows off it with a minimum of splashing. In another form, the spindle of the flap is carried in anti-friction beairns carried by a receptacle below the spout. The Provisional Specification describes modified means for mounting the flap, and refers to the use of a pointer or coloured indicating strip carried by the flap-supporting arm or spindle to indicate its position, in addition or alternatively to which the movement of the flap may close the circuit of an electric bell or other warning device.
