| abstract | 523,401. Moulding golf balls &c. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and WILLSHAW, H. Dec. 5, 1938, No. 35328. [Class 87 (ii)] Relates to supplying hot and cold water or other media to moulds for making golf balls or other small articles. The moulds are supported by rods in superimposed fashion in containers 17 mounted on a rotary table 16 carrying tanks 20 connected by pipes with the containers which have syphon overflow pipes 25 arranged above a stationary supply tank 11 divided by partitions into compartments for hot, cold and chilled water respectively. Water from the compartments is pumped to heating and cooling plants and is delivered by stationary distributers to the tanks 20 which are supplied with overflow pipes 27. Water is supplied simultaneously to all the tanks except one arranged over a ram 80, where the containers are loaded with moulds that are forced together by the engagement of the ram with a nut-retained spindle 49. When a container has been moved past the ram, hot water is admitted, and the moulds are further pressed together by a second ram. As the container is moved from point to point, hot, cold, and finally chilled water is circulated. When it again reaches the ram 80, the cover is removed, and it is recharged with moulds. |
