titleOfInvention | Improvements in the generation of chlorine dioxide |
abstract | In generating chlorine dioxide from an acid aqueous solution of a water-soluble metal chlorate with a reducing gas in the presence of an inert diluent gas, the solution is maintained at a pH below 2 and at a chlorate concentration, calculated as NaClO3, below 10 per cent on an acid-free basis, while the temperature is kept within the range 60-75 DEG C. Materials specified are alkali or alkaline-earth chlorates such as sodium and calcium chlorates, mineral acids such as sulphuric acid, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide as reducing agents, and air and nitrogen as diluents. |
