titleOfInvention Improvements in froth flotation processes and frothing agents for use therein
abstract Tetra-propoxy-ethanes are prepared by reacting glyoxal with the required alcohol, e.g. n-propanol reacted with glyoxal and distilled under vacuum gives a crude acetal which on fractional distillation in vacuo yields pure 1,1,2,2-tetra-normal-propoxy-ethane.ALSO:In the froth flotation of minerals 1.1.2.2. tetra-propoxy ethane or 1.1.2.2. tetra-isopropoxy ethane is used as the frothing agent. The reagent is stated to be particularly suitable for the separation of sulphide ores, e.g. copper sulphide ores, and may be used with ethyl xanthate as the collecting agent.
