| abstract | Compounds of the formula: <FORM:0791818/IV (b)/1> wherein Ar stands for a chlorinated phenyl group which contains from 1 to 4 chlorine atoms and R stands for an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms are prepared by reacting a dialkyl phosphorochloridothioate with a chlorinated phenol in a solvent such as benzene, toluene or methyl ethyl ketone in the presence of a hydrogen chloride acceptor such as a tertiary amine or sodium carbonate. By this method there are prepared the dimethyl, diethyl, diisopropyl and di-n-butyl 2,4-dichlorophenyl phosphorothioates and also the diethyl esters of the above formula where Ar represents 2, 3, or 4-chloro-, 2,5-dichloro-, 2,4,5- or 2,4,6-trichloro and 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenyl radicals.ALSO:A nematocidal composition comprises a carrier, namely soil, and as active ingredient a compound of the formula <FORM:0791818/VI/1> wherein Ar stands for a chlorinated phenyl group having from 1 to 4 chlorine atoms and R stands for an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. Specific groups which Ar may represent are 2-, 3- or 4-chloro, 2,4- or 2,5-dichloro-, 2,4,5- or 2,4,6-trichloro- or 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenyl radicals. The preparation of compounds of the above formula is described (see Group IV (b)). |
