abstract 865,045. Pulverized fuel fired furnaces. WALTHER & CIE A.G. Sept. 25,1957 [Sept. 26, 1956], No. 30072/57. Addition to 835,888. Class 51 (1). In a vertical pulverized fuel fired furnace having a circular combustion chamber comprising a slag outlet, a tube wall lining 5, a cover 7 and a central off-take duct 8, the walls of the latter are formed by tubes 11 which rise in spaced relationship to one another from the bottom of the chamber and are bent in the upper part of the chamber in the form of a helical coil to thus form the duct. The tubes, cooled by-feed-water in natural circulation, are arranged in their spaced parts such that points of intersection of the tube axes with a horizontal plane comprise points on a curved line such as a logarithmic spiral. Above the combustion chamber the tubes 11 diverge and are embedded in the lining 13 of a rectangularly cross-sectioned radiation chamber 12. The burners and secondary air nozzles 9, 10, are arranged as in the parent case.
