titleOfInvention | Method of producing magnetisable sheet or strip from iron alloys containing silicon |
abstract | 868,087. Making sheet; altering molecular structure. VEREINIGTE DEUTSCHE METALLWERKE A.G. Feb. 7, 1958 [Feb. 16, 1957], No. 4130/58. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). A method of producing high-grade magnetic strip or sheet having a pronounced cubic texture wherein the strip or sheet is, if necessary, subjected to a preliminary heat treatment, is then submitted to a refining heat treatment, is then cold-rolled in one or several stages and in the latter case subjected to intermediate heat treatments and is finally subjected to a final heat treatment, is characterized in that the strip or sheet is an iron alloy selected to contain between 0.5 and 2.5% silicon and, if desired, between 0.1 and 1.0% nickel and an alloying addition of aluminium, that the number of passes in the final cold-rolling stage does not exceed 10 and that the thickness of the rolled strip or sheet is between 0.2 and 0.5 mm. The refining heat treatment is carried out at about 1000‹ C. in a vacuum or in an atmosphere of hydrogen. The nickel may be wholly or partly replaced by chromium, cobalt, manganese, copper, zinc or vanadium. The cold rolling is performed unidirectionally, reversing or partly unidirectionally and partly reversing. In an example, an alloy containing 2.2% silicon, remainder iron, is hot-rolled into strip, submitted to a refining heat treatment and then cold-rolled in 10 passes to a reduction of 80.4%. The strip is next heat-treated at 850‹ C. for 1¢ hours. A second and last colddeformation stage is performed in 8 passes to a reduction of 73%. A final heat treatment lasted for 13 hours at 1250‹ C. and the strip exhibited an 85% by volume cubic texture. |
