titleOfInvention | Method of making wide flat metal sheets |
abstract | After hot rolling a pack of metal sheets of stainless steel, other ferrous alloys or non-ferrous metals such as titanium, zirconium and their alloys, is normalised for half an hour at 1850 DEG F., air cooled and then tempered for four hours at 800 DEG F. In the case of alloy steels, the following alternative treatments may be used:- (1) Anneal or austenitize at 1500 DEG F.-2200 DEG F. for 15 minutes to 8 hours, cool in air, oil, water or brine and reheat at 200 DEG F.-1500 DEG F. for 15 minutes to 100 hours. (2) Heat at 200 DEG F.-1700 DEG F. for 15 minutes to 100 hours and cool in air, oil, water or brine. (3) Refrigerate in the range 0 to -200 DEG F. for 15 minutes to 100 hours and heat for 15 minutes to 100 hours at 200 DEG F.-1750 DEG F. and cool in air, oil, water or brine. |
