titleOfInvention Improvements relating to the desulphurisation of gases and vapours
abstract In a process for removing sulphur compounds from the vapours of hydrocarbon liquids, e.g. gas oils, the vapour is passed through one or more fluidized beds of particles of an oxide such as iron, manganese or zinc oxide and the sulphur content in the bed or beds is maintained below 10% and preferably below 2% by the continuous withdrawal for regeneration of oxide from the bed or beds and the return thereto of regenerated oxide. The oxide is regenerated by heating under oxidizing conditions and the rate of circulation between the absorber and regenerator is such that the whole mass of oxide in the absorber is changed at least once every 4 hours and preferably at least once every hour. Specification 719,056 is referred to.
