| abstract | 920,364. Spray-producers. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. June 27, 1960 [Aug. 13 1959], No. 22512/60. Class 69 (3). A resilient container 11 of rubberlike material has a closure 20 removably attached in pressuretight manner, and liquid to be sprayed is fed to the container under pressure via a one-way valve 30 and passageway 26, whereby the container is expanded, and energy for dispensing the liquid is stored in the container walls. When a valve 42 is opened by a trigger 44 liquid is forced through a tube 40, passage 41 and hose 49 to a spray nozzle at substantially constant pressure. The closure includes a handle 25, a hose connector 28 for the liquid feed supply to the container, and a flange 20b which is forced on to an integral flange 11a of the container by an annular rotatable adapter 17. The latter has opposed lateral flanges 17d which, when the adapter is twisted on the flange 11a, engage opposed ears 20c of gradually increasing thickness on the flange 20b. Insecticide &c. is initially placed in the container after removing the closure, and water under pressure is then supplied to the container when the closure has been applied. An indication of the amount of liquid held in the container is provided by a lever 32 pivoted at 31 which is urged outwardly by the container wall against the action of a spring 35, and indicia 38 on the lever associate with an index on the closure. The container may be surrounded by a rigid enclosure to limit its maximum filling. |
