titleOfInvention | A composition and process for dyeing non-siliceous textile fibres |
abstract | Compositions for colouring non-siliceous textile fibres comprise (1) an aqueous solution or emulsion of an organosilicon compound which is (A) a reaction product of water and a polyaminoalkylsilane of the general formula R11x(ZnR1)Si(OR)3-x where x is 0 or 1, each R is an alkyl radical containing less than 4 carbon atoms, R1 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing 1 or more than 2 carbon atoms and having a valency of n+1 where n is an integer, Z is a monovalent radical attached to R1 by a carbon-nitrogen bond, is composed of carbon, nitrogen, and hydrogen atoms and contains at least two amine groups, the ratio of carbon atoms to nitrogen atoms in the substituent -R1Zn being less than 6:1, and each R11 is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical free from aliphatic unsaturation, or (B) an acid salt of (A), and (2) a textile dyestuff. The reaction products (A) and their salts (B) are described in Specifications 889,001 and 872,138. Examples are given. Specifications 680,265, 686,212, 745,307 and 766,864 also are referred to.ALSO:A process for colouring non-siliceous textile fibres comprises contacting the fibres with (1) an aqueous solution or emulsion of an organosilicon compound which is (A) a reaction product of water and a polyaminoalkylsilane of the general formula R11x(ZnR1)Si(OR)3-x, where x is 0 or 1, each R is an alkyl radical containing less than 4 carbon atoms, R1 is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing 1 or more than 2 carbon atoms and having a valency of n+1 where n is an integer, Z is a monovalent radical attached to R1 by a carbon-nitrogen bond, is composed of carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen atoms and contains at least two amine groups, the ratio of carbon atoms to nitrogen atoms in the substituent -R1Zn being less than 6:1, and each R11 is a monovalent hydrocarbon radical free from aliphatic unsaturation, or (B) an acid salt of (A); and with (2) a textile dyestuff. The aqueous solution or emulsion of the organosilicon compound (1) may be applied to the textile before or with the dyestuff (2). The textiles may be composed of fibres of acrylic polymers, polyester, cellulose acetate, cellulose triacetate, polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinylidene dinitrile, nylon, polyvinyl chloride and polyolefin. The dyestuffs may be Acid, Premetallized Acid, Mordant, Direct, Disperse, Vat, Sulphur, Reactive and Basic Dyes or Pigments. If Mordant Dyes are used the mordant may be applied before, with, or after the dyestuff. Mordanting metals specified are Cr, Cu, Al, Fe and Sn. Examples are given. Specifications 680,265, 686,212, 745,307, 766,864, 872,138 and 889,001 are referred to. |
