titleOfInvention After treatment of linear polyamides
abstract A method of obtaining a devolatilised linear polyamide comprises passing a linear polyamide derived from a monoaminocarboxylic acid or a polyamide-forming derivative thereof, said polyamide containing from about 4 to 16% by weight of devolatilisable monomers and oligomers therein, through a vented devolatilising extruder maintained under vacuum and at elevated temperatures whereby the devolatilisables are removed by means of the reduced pressure and heat. The Specification describes the polymerization of S -caprolactam and the devolatilisation of the resultant polymer. Examples are given.
