titleOfInvention | Improvements in the production of cycloalkanols and cycloalkanones |
abstract | Cycloalkanols and cyclokanones having 5-7 ring carbon atoms are produced by reacting in the liquid phase with molecular oxygen the corresponding cycloalkane, in presence of a boric acid or anhydride thereof. In practice, the intermediate borate ester of the cycloalkanol is hydrolysed by adding water, but alternatively it may be isolated. Specified starting materials are cyclopentane, methylcyclopentane, cyclohexane, methylcyclohexane, dimethylcyclohexanes and cycloheptane. |
