abstract | SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to an isolated single-stranded or double-stranded nucleic acid molecule comprising at least one plant-derived, drought-inducible and ABA-salt and cold-sensitive regulatory gene region. More particularly, the present invention relates to an isolated single-stranded or double-stranded nucleic acid molecule which comprises, in whole or in part, the 5 'regulatory sequence region of the DS2 gene of a plant belonging to the Solanum species, or its aortologist, homologue or functional variant. The invention further relates to transformation vectors, transgenic plants, and any reproducible parts thereof, and plant propagating material, as well as a method for expressing a gene in a plant, according to which the gene can be induced by drought induction and expressed in an ABA salt and cold sensitivity mode.
