The invention relates to a process for the preparation of heterocyclic fused tricyclic compounds. According to the invention compounds of the general formula are prepared (wherein A is a substituted 5- or 6-membered aryl or heteroaryl ring, Rb is optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, heteroaryl or heteroarylalkyl, Rc is hydrogen, alkyl or Alkanoyl, n is 1 or 2 and X is CH or N) and their salts.
