abstract | The present invention provides an apparatus for introducing material into cells, comprising (a) a high pressure gas source having a gas outlet; (b) a propellant tank connected to the gas outlet and having an inlet and an outlet. The high pressure gas source (30) includes a multi-way valve (70) disposed between the outlet and the inlet of the foldable material container (40). The invention further relates to a method for introducing a non-cellular biological material into living cells, comprising: (a) using a predetermined volume of a pre-selected 15-150 atm (1.47 × 106-1.47 × 107 Pa) pressurized gas; (b) taking a predetermined amount of a propellant, which is a propellant cellular or non-cellular biology material suspended in a friction medium; and (c) contacting the propellant with the specified amount of gas and accelerating the propellant in a selected target direction at a speed between 200 mph and 1200 mph (89.41-536.45 m / s). ŕ |
