titleOfInvention | Combined process and plant for producing compressed air and at least one air gas |
abstract | Process to produce compressed air and at least one other gas separated from air in an air treatment device (S), by generating first and second air flows under pressure intended respectively for the supply of air and gas. Some of the second flow is used to supply compressed air during a temporary mode of operation. Installation supplying compressed air and a gas to a distribution system. When operating in the temporary mode, the gas is supplied at least partially from a reservoir and the whole of the second flow is supplied as compressed air. The pressure of the second flow can be controlled and the two flows are at the same pressure. The second flow is normally at a higher pressure that the first and is changed during operation in the temporary mode. The air separator can operate temporarily at a reduced rate. The gas is nitrogen, oxygen or dry air. At least some of the compressed air and some of the gas are consumed in the same unit. The system for supplying compressed air (LA) is connected to a source of air under pressure (CO2,CO3) and the system for producing and distributing a gas separated from air (LG) is connected to a second source of air under pressure (CO1). The second source can be connected to the air supply system (LA) at least temporarily via valves (V,D). One valve (V) isolates the two systems from each other. The isolation valve is sensitive to a parameter of the outlet gas, such as the flow of gas produced. The system also contains a reservoir (R) and a system for controlling the air flow supplied by the sources. At least one of the sources of air under pressure is a compressor. The system includes a separation unit (S) using adsorption, permeation or cryogenic distillation. |
