titleOfInvention SENSITIZING PIGMENT FOR REGISTRATION MATERIAL
abstract The pigment comprises particles of about 1 mu of a dioctahedral montmorillonite which has been ion exchanged with a source of lithium ions, then heat treated, causing irreversible breakdown of the structure of the montmorillonite. The particles are capable, when applied to paper, of giving a stable image of an intense blue when they are using a solution of crystalline lactone violet in an organic solvent. Used for mfr. of carbon free copying paper and similar image forming systems susceptible to producing an image an application of pressure. the pigments exhibit desirable characteristics of image development, when used to make copying paper esp. in the presence of resins, without their undesirable properties such as fading, changing colour, deterioration during storage, etc.
