PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is inexpensive and has good cycle characteristics, especially when used at high temperatures. SOLUTION: In a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery utilizing insertion and extraction of lithium, a composition formula of Li 1 + x Mn 2-x O 4 (x > 0) a positive electrode formed by using a lithium manganese composite oxide having a spinel structure as a positive electrode active material and binding the lithium manganese composite oxide with a positive electrode binder, and carbon capable of occluding and releasing lithium.
