titleOfInvention Thin-film electric motor
abstract SUMMARY An electric motor and methods of making and operating the motor are disclosed. The motor includes a stator (82) and a rotor (74) made of an amorphous material, thereby reducing grain boundaries and allowing small poles to be etched. The rotor (74) is separated from the stator (82) by an air cushion illustrated by Bernoulli's principle. The rotor (74) is supported by a bearing assembly (70) centered by magnets that are magnetically coupled to an annular ring formed on the rotor.
