titleOfInvention Esterification of amino acids and peptides
abstract (57) Abstract: In a process for esterifying an amino acid or peptide in which an amino acid or peptide is converted to a corresponding ester in the presence of a hydrosulfate having the general formula ROSO 3 H (R represents an alkyl group), , A process prepared from chlorosulfonic acid and an alcohol having the general formula ROH (R has the same meaning as described above) in the presence of the amino acid or peptide. The molar ratio of chlorosulfonic acid to amino acids or peptides is between 0.8 and 2.0, especially between 1.0 and 1.3. Preferably, primary alcohols, especially methanol, are used as alcohol. The amino acid used can be, for example, an α-amino acid selected from the group comprising p-hydroxyphenylglycine, phenylglycine, phenylalanine, tyrosine, proline and valine. As the peptide, for example, an ester of L-alanyl-L-proline or L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine can be used.
