(57) [Problem] To provide a reversible thermosensitive recording medium that is excellent in thermal head matching property, realizes stable erasability with little erasure remaining, and has excellent storage stability. SOLUTION: After heating to at least a second specific temperature and a third specific temperature higher than a second specific temperature on a support, a first lower than the second specific temperature and higher than a normal temperature is provided. The first color is obtained by cooling to a temperature not higher than the third specific temperature, and is heated to a fourth specific temperature or higher that is higher than the third specific temperature, and then the second color is set to be lower than the first specific temperature. And the surface roughness (Rz) is 1. A reversible thermosensitive recording medium provided with a protective layer of 2 μm or more, characterized in that the protective layer contains at least one lubricant having a melting point of not less than a first specific temperature and not more than a second specific temperature.
