abstract | (57) [Problem] To produce an ethylene polymer with high catalytic activity. SOLUTION: (i) containing at least one member selected from metallic magnesium and an organic compound of hydroxide, an oxygen-containing organic compound of magnesium, and a halogen-containing compound of magnesium; and (ii) containing at least one oxygen-containing organic compound of titanium. Polymerizing or co-polymerizing ethylene in the presence of a solid catalyst obtained by reacting the homogeneous solution to be reacted with (iii) at least one organoaluminum halide compound and a catalyst system comprising an organoaluminum compound and an olefin having 4 or more carbon atoms.
