abstract (57) Abstract: A valve plate (34) and a valve plate support (15) are driven by a piston rod (31a) coupled to a valve plate support (15) inside a valve case (6) and extending outside the valve case (6). For the gate valve 5, the through holes 6c, 53b and the like formed in the valve box 6 so that the piston rod 31a is fitted can be easily maintained. SOLUTION: When a valve plate support 15 is at a valve closing position, a joint portion 61 of a clevis 11 at a lower end portion of a valve plate support 15 and a piston rod 31a is located inside a communication port 8 of a valve box 6. In this way, the communication port 8 is configured to be exposed to the outside of the valve box 6.
