Delivery of functional protein sequences by translocating polypeptides |
abstract |
(57) [Summary]nThe present invention provides a method for regulating a cell process, comprising contacting a cultured cell with a cell process-modifying molecule bound to a translocating polypeptide. For example, in one embodiment, the cultured cells are transfected with the target gene by contacting the cultured cells with a polynucleotide (including the target gene) bound to the translocated polypeptide. In another embodiment, contacting a cultured cell with one or more modulators attached to a translocating polypeptide results in the target gene in a cultured cell comprising the target gene under the control of one or more regulatory elements. Regulate product expression. The one or more modulators translocate into the cultured cells, where they interact with one or more regulatory elements and regulate the expression of the target gene product by the cells. |
